Research Work Placement Project
In July/August 2025 I am supporting eight Y12 students to complete a project titled:
"Formula 1 to be Net-Zero Carbon by 2030. What are the barriers to achieving this and how can they be overcome? With a continued focus on sustainability what will Formula 1 look like in 2045?"
The students are encouraged to look at any or all areas which could include fuel, manufacturing, engines, materials, travel, accommodation, energy, race weekends, spectators, media, catering etc.
A range of projects are organised by SATRO each year in collaboration with many individuals/organisations giving around 100 students

Brooklands Museum Visit
23rd July 2025
I met three of the students at the Museum. We discussed their ideas so far, considered the history of motor racing and inspected F1 cars and a Formula E car. Some of the students are also interested in the Aerospace Industry so it was a good opportunity to see aircraft including Concorde plus many others.
The students will be presenting their work on 12th or 13th August 2025.

12th August 2025 - Project Update
Two of the students presented their work earlier today. As expected no two projects are ever the same. It is such a huge topic that it is impossible to sum up the barriers & solutions to Net-Zero plus the sustainable future of F1 in one A3 size Scientific Poster. However as always the students did not disappoint with one focussed on logistics whilst the other concentrated on energy recovery. Looking forward to more tomorrow.
